Description: Soft Sculpture Assemblage - quilting acrylic, monofilament fishing line, single piece vintage 1940's cotton fabric, natural jute cord, acrylic paint, gesso, acrylic clear varnish (environmentally friendly), pine wood disk. Surface texture gives with a firm touch, but is sculpturally hard as the soft fabric has been carefully brushed with hundreds of layers of gesso. Entire piece has a mild gloss and wipes clean with a soft damp cloth.

A conceptual art piece inspired by a Peruvian mummy that had been bound and buried, this piece is intended to reflect the restrictions within this life, how they can effect us emotionally & perhaps serve as a reminder not to carry those restrictions into the after life. A single piece of fabric was used in this design, without cutting or piercing with a needle. Some cultures, ancient and modern, believe it an offense to God for the gift of fabric to be punctured. In addition, the concept of using as little tools as possible, only manipulating the materials with the human hand, was a great appeal. Has been in private collection of the artist, though not on open display.
